Subject: Proposed rule changes to the Clean Water Act
Synopsis: In response to the Supreme Court decision on Sackett (2022), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed significant changes to the rules for implementation of the Clean Water Act (CWA). These proposed rules would eliminate protections for many waterways, and significantly diminish the usefulness of the CWA for protecting lakes, rivers, and streams that support valuable trout and salmon fisheries. PCTU makes recommendations to EPA and federal legislators to reduce the negative impacts of implementing changes to CWA implementation rules.
